How's This?

When I showed up at Material Girls on Saturday, there was this Asian panel in my mailslot with a note that said "See what you can do with this."

ta-da!

I used the homespuns to keep a muted and clean backdrop. Asian prints or bright matchy fabrics would have taken away from the panels.

I'm happy with the results.
Other than the one vertical piece, all homespuns were cut one inch wide. Posted by Picasa

My big plan for the day is to try the Barefoot Contessa Fresh Corn salad. And if my roast ever thaws, cook it with some potatoes, carrots, and onions. The leftovers will become BBQ sandwiches. Otherwise known as lunch.

I thinned out my green bean plants to make more room for my ever expanding watermelon vines... and now they are producing better. Too thick, to get enough sound in my shady backyard, I guess. They have been great fun to experiment with and to give away.

When you have SOOO much of one thing, you begin to get pretty creative about cooking them in dishes that have never come close to seeing a green bean before!

The birds are killing me on my tomatoes! Pecking them to death. I've put tulle over them... but still, ahhhhh!

Quilting: I have the four geisha girl panels and have been assigned the task of "doing something with them." Hmmm. I think I will keep it wall hanging sized, asymetrical, and using two grey homespuns so as to not compete with the prints. Now, how best to arrange and how detailed do I want to get with the borders...? I THINK I want to be more creative than just adding border after border, varying only in size. I'm thinking squares? (9-patch'ish) half square triangels? Or more abstract and do some variation of vertical lines?!?!!?

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Oh. I guess I need to add that to my to-do list.
